Greetings our dear readers of THR(thinking routines) project. In this article, we would be introducing a very interesting game that has survived from the kampong times till today.
While the games we play today include online games, smartphone games and many other digital ones, there are other games from the past that people are still playing. It's our pleasure to share with you one of such games called Zero-point.
Zero-point is a game played since the kampung times in Singapore. The equipment used is very simple which requires only rubber bands looping together to form a thread line To play, you need at least 3 people or more; two persons will hold each end of the line while the remainding person(s) will become the player(s).
The players will need to jump over the line of rubber bands. But wait! That's not all, it would be too simple of a game if that was the case to just jump over once. Actually there are different levels of difficulty in this game; basically at least 7 levels from the lowest beginning at the ankle's , then knee's, waist's, armpit 's, shoulder's, ear's and lastly at the tip of the holder's head being the highest. Failure of all players to cross over the line will result in ending their game. They will switch role becoming the holders and the holders will become the players.
If all of the 7 levels are completed by the players, they will considered to have passed the basic stage and can move to the advanced stage. At the advanced stage, the players request the holders to lift the line by another 1 inch above the head and finally by 2 inches above the head. Upon completion of the advanced stage, the players will switch roles with the holders.
This typical game of zero-point may seem a very boring game as it involes only rubberbands and a couple of people to play, but it's sure a very intresting way to bond with people as you get to compete with friends to see who can jump the highest!
